O₃- Trioxygen
Seattle artist Naoko Morisawa imaginatively merges art and science in O₃ - Trioxygen. This colorful serpentine form is meant to symbolize trioxygen (O₃) - commonly known as ozone - and its importance to the survival of the Earth. The base of the work is handcrafted, oil-stained wood pieces, and the form itself is made up of meticulously laid wood-and-paper mosaic. The three-dimensional surface of the mosaic catches the light and brings the piece to life. Morisawa's work has been steadily growing in popularity since her debut and recent partnership with the Traver Gallery, so now is the time to collect.

Falling Into The Sky 3
Falling Into the Sky 3 was recently featured in the 2021 exhibition, Trace: Terri Grant & Purnima Patel. The artist begins by taking a photograph - in this case, of bare trees reflected on the surface of a puddle - which is later recreated on enamel. Delicate glass threads are then layered on top, echoing and enhancing the original picture. The effect is both whimsical and disorienting. To quote the artist, "As a child, when peering into post-storm puddles, did you ever have the sensation that you could fall into the sky?" Grant creates her glasswork in her home studio in Richland, Washington.
Value: $2,500

The Rhino
Take a closer look: The Rhino isn't what it seems! This artwork is made entirely of crayons. The artist collected the crayons when serving as a volunteer at Seattle Children's Hospital. To create the form of the rhino, PaTan arranged hundreds of cut and crushed crayons on top of a wood panel. Notice the meticulous organization of the upcycled material to create the illusion of depth and shadowing. This piece would make a fun and meaningful addition to any household, but especially one with young animal lovers (or crayon users).

E for Effort
This necklace is high fashion with a clever sense of humor. An eclectic set of metal and glass objects dangle from a double metal band. The titular E is colored gold, and a contemplative figure sits atop the casing. Ron Ho (1936-2017) often incorporated found objects into his jewelry - including this necklace - especially objects selected during his extensive global travels.
Ho is closely tied with Bellevue Arts Museum's history. In 2019, Ho's extensive body of jewelry-art and archival materials documenting his life were showcased in a solo retrospective exhibition at BAM, Ron Ho: A Jeweler's Tale, presented with Northwest Designer Craftsmen. This necklace is linked not only to a celebrated Pacific Northwest artist, but also the Museum itself.
Value: $12,000
